Have you ever written things down on the palm of your hand?
I have.
What sort of things do you tend to jot down?
I don’t do it often, but when I do, I write the things I don’t want to forget.
Maybe it’s a must-get item at the grocery store; an important phone number; an appointment time; even a name.
Now you may ask, why not write it in a safer place? After all, the ink may get erased.
The thing is, my hand is closer than the notebook in my bag.
I am likely to remember the important information, because I am likely to see the jotting due to the proximity of my hand to my eyes. With my notebook, it may be out of sight, out of mind.
Thankfully God doesn’t need to be reminded of who and whose we are.
But to show us how important we are to Him, He has engraved our names in His hands.
Not in erasable ink, but permanently.
That way, every time He moves His hands, He can’t miss seeing us.
The great God of the universe thinks enough of you and of me to inscribe our names on His hands.
Now doesn’t that just make you feel special?
