Today was a long day.
Ever had a day like that?
I tried more than once to marshall my thoughts, to muster the makings of a meditation and it just wouldn’t happen.
I cannot pinpoint a particular cause. I just felt very tired by the end of the day.
To make matters worse, I hadn’t prepped anything for dinner. Needless to say, I was weary at the thought of having to put a meal together.
Shortly after arriving at home, I stepped back onto the porch to get something when I happen to glance up.
I can barely describe the sight which met my eyes.
My camera does not do it justice.
It was as though God had dipped his fingers into pots of purple, pink and orange and painted a panoramic masterpiece across the sky.
I quickly grabbed my phone, desperate to capture the beauty of what was before me.
After my long day, this was just the pick-me-up I needed. God knew.
This reminds me of how thoughtful God is. He paints a rainbow through the rain; he scatters mountains among the valleys; he sprinkles roses among the thorns.
He provides hope for those of us living in this sin-sick world.
The enemy would like nothing more than to keep us fixated on the pain and perils of this world.
But don’t give him the satisfaction. Focus on the one who promised never to leave us nor forsake us; the one who promised to make a way of escape through the trials;
Take the time to smell the roses; take the time to admire God’s artistry in nature. He does it just for you and for me.
