The God who gave us the ultimate gift has quite a bit to say about the act of giving.
Day 2: 2 Corinthians 9:7 (MSG)
“I want each of you to take plenty of time to think it over, and make up your mind what you will give. God loves it when the giver delights in the giving.”
Day 1’s takeaway was – we all have something that we can give. If that is so, then based on today’s scripture, we must plan to give.
Many times we are caught unawares when it is time to give and consequently miss out on that blessing.
However, when we do give, God does not want us to give grudgingly or stingily. And we can avoid that if we plan to give.
Previously, we explored the fact that giving stems from a heart that is unselfish; a heart that considers someone other than yourself (or your immediate family).
Remember, God didn’t whip up the plan of salvation after man sinned.
He planned ahead. And He wasn’t stingy with His giving either!
Aren’t we grateful for that?
So don’t allow your lack of planning to get in the way of your giving this season.
Plan the use of your means, time and talents in a way that will allow you to give generously this season.
And not that we are giving to get, but don’t forget: God LOVES a cheerful giver. 😉
