If we are seeking genuine change in 2019 then we can’t keep doing the same things. Even when we believe in our heart of hearts that we are doing the right thing.
We definitely do not want to be in the group described in Matthew 7:22-23 desperately clinging to ,”…Lord, Lord did we not …” only to be told, “…I never knew you…”
The only way that we can know for sure whether our way lines up with God’s way is to ask Him.
Then once we’ve asked, we need to listen for the response. There’s no point in asking if we’re unwilling to listen. So stay on your knees a little longer. Remain silent and listen to what God has to say.
The answer may come in different ways. In that still, small voice, through the counsel of a trusted friend, or in an opportunity that disappears or a door that swings wide open.
However it happens, the answer will come.
Finally, once we receive the answer, we must respond. As Maya Angelou once said, “When we know better, do better.”
There’s no point in getting an answer and refusing to do anything about it. So ask God to help you make the changes you want to see.
Only He can help you to make a real change.
