Many Christians have prayed this prayer of David’s. In fact, you and I have probably uttered our own versions of it.
The question is whether we BELIEVE that God will do what we ask.
The enemy would love us to believe that He won’t; that we have done too much wrong, that our sins are just too bad to forgive.
Friends, do not fall for his lies.
The Father offers us grace – undeserved, unmerited favour. All we need to do is ask!
We are told in Hebrews 8:12 BSB, “For I will forgive their iniquities and will remember their sins no more.”
In Isaiah 43:25 NLT God says , “I, yes, I alone will blot out your sins…and will remember them no more.”
What more assurance do we need?
In a recent sermon I was reminded that sin does not equal grace. Instead we are told that, “where sin increased, grace increased all the more.” Romans 8:20 NIV
By no means is this an excuse to keep doing what is wrong. But when we are genuinely repentant and have asked for forgiveness, we can be CONFIDENT that we receive it.
