A light is only good to anyone if it is switched on.

One can be surrounded by light bulbs but still stumble around in darkness because all of the lights are off.

The Word of God is no different.

We can be surrounded by Bibles, but if they’re only serving as dust-collectors, their impact is nonexistent.

Psalm 119:103 tells us that God’s Word is “…a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.”

We need to actually open our Bible and read it.

God has given it to us to serve as a roadmap – to help us navigate this life. But we will continue to wander aimlessly, stumbling around, unless we make use of it.

Will we choose to walk a dark path when there’s a well-lit one available? Probably not.

So let us not do that with God’s word today. Let us allow it to illuminate our way.
