As I was walking back to my home away from home this evening, I felt weary. It had been a mentally taxing week. Then I noticed the sun – a fiery, orange ball, slowly edging it’s way to the horizon. My hands itched to capture the moment, but my view was obscured by trees.
I quickened my steps, eager to get an unobstructed view of the sun going down, the beginning of another Sabbath.
Knowing how quickly the sun could disappear, I begged God, “Hold the sun!”
Yes, you read right.
Half running and walking, I made it with several seconds to spare.
As I stood there, gazing at the sunset, my heart was full; full of gratitude for the awesome way God took care of me throughout this week.
And this, this experience was just the icing on the cake.
It was like God was saying to me, “I know you’re tired child; rest now. This is why I created the Sabbath for you. Turn off the world. Rest, rejuvenate and renew yourself in me.”
Friends, I urge you to make God personal to you.
Don’t settle for the once-a-week church experience.
Get to know Him for yourself.
I tell you, there’s nothing like it.
