Clean

While we are alive, we still have the chance to make things right with God. And if it’s one lesson I’ve learned from the world’s reaction to this pandemic, it is that no one wants to die. None of us are ready.

Everyone is imploring us to wash our hands in an effort to keep ourselves healthy. And we ought to comply – no doubt about that.

But another type of washing is necessary too. We need our sins washed away; we need our hearts and minds cleansed.

And only one person can do that.

In Isaiah we are invited, “Come now, let us settle the matter,” says the Lord. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18 NIV

Unfortunately, our stringent handwashing doesn’t guarantee our safety. (But it helps, so let us comply.)

But when Jesus washes us, we are spiritually clean.

Here are three (3) prayers that, like David, we can pray:

1. “Wash away all my evil and make me clean from my sin!” Psalm 51:2 GNT

2. “Remove my sin, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.”
Psalm 51:7 GNT

3. “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalms 51:10 KJV

Let us take advantage of the opportunity to be cleansed while we still have it.

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” Hebrews 3:15b NIV
