Stilled Storms

Every June – November, hurricanes threaten our peace in this part of the world. Today, the Covid-19 virus threatens everyone everywhere.

Storms threaten to disrupt our peace of mind every single day.

Some are sent by the creator of strife; others are of our own making.

Regardless of how or why they are formed, there is One who can obliterate them.

We are reminded that, “Jesus stood up and commanded the wind, “Be quiet!” and he said to the waves, “Be still!” The wind died down, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39 GNT

I know firsthand that storms can be frightening.

Whether you’re facing a Category 5 hurricane, an empty bank account or a medical diagnosis, storms can be super scary.

But Jesus tells us, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NLT

Today, we each have a choice.

When the storms rage around us, we can stay in our beds and pull the covers over our heads, or we can step out in faith and accept the peace that Jesus offers.

Which will you choose?
