Nature was created to reflect God’s glory and to remind us of His amazing power.
But how often do we spend quality time in nature? I live on an island surrounded by beautiful beaches, and I don’t make it to the sea ten (10) times in a year. Pretty sad huh?
We tend to rush past, too busy to stop. Consequently, we miss out on all of the lessons to be learned.
Chief of which is that God is the ultimate Provider. In Matthew, we are told:
“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing…And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?”
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ …your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.” Matthew 6:28, 30-32 NLT
We will worry a lot less if we spent more time in nature.
Research has shown it to be a natural de-stresser. But we know that it is much more than that.
We are not machines. We are created beings with requirements for remaining in tip-top condition.
Now consider how many of them are found in or are associated with nature:
• a healthy diet (nuts, grains, fruits, vegetables)
• fresh air
And above all, is the reminder to trust in God’s divine power.
So today, don’t rush about. You’ll miss out!
Stop and smell the roses.
