From reading I understand that a desert is a pretty desolate place; miles and miles of generally-uninhabited land. Hot and uncomfortable.
At least by day.
But at night, it is a completely different story.
The temperature is significantly cooler, and I can only imagine the star show without the competing lights of a city.
What a difference a few hours can make.
Our lives are no different.
Our situations may be pretty grim. We are uncomfortable in our season of struggle, and we can’t wait to get out.
Oh, but what a difference when you feel God’s presence right there with you in the midst of it.
We read in Isaiah 35 that even the desert blossoms (8) in God’s presence.
This tellls me that if we call on God in the midst of our desert situation, our whole approach and attitude to it can change. We can thrive despite our troubles.
The prophet encourages us to, “Tell everyone who is discouraged, “Be strong and don’t be afraid! God is coming to your rescue…”
Isaiah 35:4 GNB
So today as we face a new week, remember that even in the midst of our disheartening, devasting and desolate deserts, we can blossom with praise because we are assured that God is with us. He will never leave us nor abandon us. (Hebrews 13:5)
